The South Simcoe Police Service, Ford Motor Company, TLS Fleet Management, D&R Electronics and Sunset Speedway would like to invite the Media to the unveiling of the 2013 Ford Interceptors on Wednesday June 13th, 2012 at 11:00 am. The event will be held at Sunset Speedway, 6918 Yonge Street in Innisfil.

The South Simcoe Police have recently procured both a Ford Interceptor Sedan and Ford Interceptor Utility. The new police package vehicles are currently being up-fitted and will be placed into operational use following the launch on June 13th. Members of the Media will have first hand opportunity to not only view the new vehicles, but drive the police cruisers on a controlled track at Sunset Speedway.

For 15 years, the Ford Crown Victoria has been the police vehicle of choice for law enforcement across North America. The new Interceptors will be replacing the Ford Crown Victoria's which were discontinued last September.

"Our experience with the Crown Victoria helped us develop the next generation of Police Interceptor vehicles that serve as tools for public safety officials to do their jobs safely, efficiently and effectively"
said Lisa Teed, Ford's marketing manager for the Police Interceptors.

One of the many advantages of the new police cruisers is fuel efficiency.
The V6 powertrain portfolio of engines on the Police Interceptors will provide upwards of a 20% savings in fuel over the current Ford Crown Victoria's and help the police reduce their operating costs.

Please join us at Sunset Speedway on June 13th for this unique opportunity.

SUNSET SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES MRE PRO SERIES IN 2012

SUNSET SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES MRE PRO SERIES IN 2012

Innisfil, Ontario, Monday March 26, 2012: Sunset Speedway is pleased to announce today the new MRE Pro Series will take to the track for four race events in 2012. The MRE (McColl Racing Products) Pro Series events will all feature Open Late Models, Super Stock/Thunder Cars and Mini Stock races.

“We are thrilled to welcome back McColl Racing as we continue our long term relationship into 2012. They have been a great partner for us and all racers in Canada for many years”, said track General Manager Mark Dilley.

Alan Pinsonneault, General Manager of MRE agrees. “McColl Racing Enterprises continues to be very proud of our association with Sunset Speedway and the great show that this facility always provides racers and fans alike. In our third year with Sunset Speedway, we are again doing something a little different with our support. At MRE we feel this will provide a great opportunity for us to thank so many of our customers by providing them with a points fund to chase throughout these four events.”

The four race series will consist of two Sunday specials beginning with Sunday May 27th followed by Sunday June 17th and then two mid-week contests on Wednesday July 11 and Wednesday August 15th. Open Late Model events will be 75 laps, with Super Stock/Thunder Cars racing 50 laps and Mini Stocks competing in 35 lap races.

“We are trying something a little different this year by hosting two Wednesday night events,” said Dilley. In this day and age we have to think outside the box and mid-week special events haven’t been around in the racing business for a few years. We think it is time to give them a try again.”

Also, Sunset is pleased to announce that two of the four MRE Pro Series races will be sponsored by APC Auto Part Centres, as they welcome their guests to the opening event on Sunday May 27th and the final event on Wednesday August 15th.

“APC partnered with Sunset in 2011 for one event and it was deemed a success by both parties, so we are pleased to have them return in 2012 bigger and better,” stated Linda Jones, Sales & Marketing at Sunset Speedway.

“We are excited to be involved with Sunset Speedway as we look forward to some great racing,” said Luke Ramsey, Sales & Marketing Manager, APC Auto Parts Centres. “We at APC expect this to be the start of a great partnership between our two companies.”
